Hurricane Preparedness

Hurricane Season is June 1st through November 30th
It is never too early to prepare!

Don’t wait until a storm threatens; early planning is essential. To access general information through the Manatee County website, click here. Below is the link to the current Disaster Planning Guide, which offers preparation information for seniors, emergency kit checklists, guidance on preparing your pets for emergencies, and other helpful information. The Dashboard link takes you directly to Manatee County's information center for weather-related information.

Registry for Residents with Special Needs
The Special Needs Registry is designed to assist Manatee County residents who will require transportation or shelter assistance when they are notified to evacuate their residences due to a storm. You may need to evacuate your home from a pending hurricane if you are power dependent, live in an evacuation zone, or live in a mobile home. Residents are encouraged to use public sheltering only if no other options exist.

If you need evacuation transportation or require sheltering assistance, you must preregister. The application and checklists are available through the County. (Click here). Annual registration is required. Once registered, you will automatically receive an application for renewal approximately 60 days prior to your birthday.

CodeRED Weather Warnings
Sign up for the CodeRED Emergency Notification System to receive notifications generated by government and public safety officials. You will receive CodeRED alerts for emergency updates such as evacuation notices, boil water advisories, weather warnings, and hazardous traffic or road conditions. You can opt to receive notifications by phone call, text, or email.

A CodeRED Emergency message will have a caller ID of 866-419-5000. A CodeRED General message will have a caller ID 855-969-4636. It is suggested you program both numbers in your cell phone as “new contacts” and use “CodeRED Emergency” and “CodeRED General” as the contact names. If you need to replay the emergency notification message, simply dial the number to hear it again. Click here for more information and sign up.
